Can I apply?
According
to the purposed law of US department of state, those who are 18 years
old full-time students can apply to this program. In China, students
from college, university and even post graduates can apply.

Any
university students can apply?
Yes,
you should pass our English interview, than you are qualified to
participate.

After interview, what should I do?
You
should keep in touch with our program adviser to know your situation.
4.
Which kind of job in US? What is the location? How is the pay?
Summer
Work and Travel is a worldwide culture exchange program. Considering
the diffierent English skill and occupation requirement, most jobs
are entry-level. Without professional knowledge, students can start
work with a short training. You can find job detail on job
description page. The minimum salary is 7.25 USD/hour.

How about working hour?
Usually
the working hour is 30-40 hour per week. It depends on business
situation.

We also have similar job in China. Why go to US?
The biggest difference from internship in China, participant can enjoy 14 weeks’ American culture, and improve their oral English, work in a multicultural environment. All participants can get social security card.

Is it safe to work in US?
This
program is supported bay department of US. And it has been operated
for over 30 years before it introduced in China. It is a reliable
exchange program.

Is there contact person in US?
The
program has been run for 40 year, it is a mutual exchange program.
When students arrive in US, they are supervise by department of
homeland security, students must registered in SEVIS system. US
sponsor is responsible for students’ affair. Students can call 24
toll-free phone number to ask for help and information.
9.
Can the incomes guarantee my normal daily life in US?
The
incomes can completely support students’ daily life in US. Beside
accommodation, traffic and food, students may leave $1000. For the
first two weeks, we strongly suggest students bring 1000 to US.

What
is SEVIS fee? Why we must pay?
SEVIS
fee is a standard payment for US department of homeland security. The
fee is $35, all exchange student or youth need to pay. SEVIS is the
abbreviation of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.
The fee is the management fee for exchange people.
11.
If
I participate, which kind of visa I will get?
Student
will enter in US with J1 Visa rather than B1 Visa or F1 Visa. J1 visa
is also called exchange vister visa. This visa is for those who can
promote education, art and science exchange activity.
12.
Can
I apply without passport?
If
you don’t have passport it is ok for you to apply. But passport is
your ID and certificant of nationality, all participants must apply
for passport as soon as possible.
13.
How
to apply passport? Can somebody act on my behalf?
Participant can go to immigration adiministration orgnization to apply passport. You should do it yourself. Usually it take 10 working day.
14.
Can
I have a part-time job in US?
Yes,
during the program period, you can have second job even third
job.
15.
How
do the employers pay?
Usually
employer will pay every two weeks via paychack or in cash. You can
ask your employer more detail after you arrive in US.
16.
Do
I need to pay tax?
Yes,
every legal employer needs to pay. But you can get your 80%-90% tax
back after you come back home.
17.
Can
I change my job employer?
Students
can only change your job after you get your employer and sponsor’s
approval.
18.
After
my work, can I travel around in US?
After
the ending date on DS2019, students can stay in US for another 30
days.for examply, if your ending date is Sep-10, the last day you can
stay in US is Oct-10.
19.
Do
I have insurance in US?
You
have health insurance during working period. After that you need buy
travel insurance.
20.
Can
I drive?
If
you have drive license, you can drive. Remember buy yourself
insurance.
21.
What
do I need to provide when I sign up?
You
don’t need any certificate when you sign up. After you pass our
interview, you need provide us with holiday certificate.
22.
Can
I choose job and location?
Generally,
Students don’t have much space to choose.
23.
After
I get job offer, can I change it?
Students
must accept the offer from IEC.
